URSULINES OF THE ROMAN UNION

PROVINCE OF SOUTHERN AFRICA
EXTRACTS FROM THE MISSION STATEMENTS
OF THE SISTER OF
THE ROMAN UNION OF THE ORDER OF ST URSULA
Be fearless then, be confident;
Wherever you go,
the Lord is with you.
(Joshua 1:9)

Strengthened
by the Word of God
and by our communion with each other,
let us have the courage
to go beyond our borders
and, with Angela, to be signs
of reconciliation and hope.
Chapter Message - General Chapter 2007
Chapter Message - General Chapter 2001
Reflecting on our particular gifts as daughters of Angela,
in both and local and global context,
we see that we are called, at this time in our history,
to be
"artisans of peace."

Hence we invite
all the members of the Roman Union,
our Associates
and all our collaborators
to join together
as
crafters of PEACE

We do this with the understanding
that
"makers of peace"
live and promote
Justice,
Dialogue,
Mutual respect
and Reconciliation.
Chapter Theme - Southern African Province 2007
Theme: Weaving our Unique Pattern for Africa

"The weaving is in progress,
Not finished.
We are working it together,
Slowly,
Each making her contribution,
Drawing one another along,
Challenging one another.
Community in mission,
Enriched by our diversities,
One and interdependent,
UNITE INSIEMA TUTTE
With Angela.
(Circular 250)
Chapter Message - Southern African Province 2001
At the start of the new millennium,
we, Ursulines of the Roman Union,
daughters of Angela, pilgrim of peace and justice,
hear the call to become more fully

Artisans of peace.

In our world torn by division and inequality,
we respond as women of peace by
promoting justice and reconciliation:
in all our actions and relationships,
in community and mission,
towards all people and all cultures,
towards the earth and all creation.

"This is what God asks of you, only this:
to act justly, to love tenderly
and to walk humbly with your God."
Micah 6:8
